History of Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport: Before the airport was opened, Cigli Military Airport had been serving Izmir and its environs for both civilian and military aircraft. Due to the rapid development of the aviation sector in parallel with the tourism of the country in the 80s, the need for the construction of a new civil airport in this region was born and DHMI Adnan Menderes Airport was opened on November 17, 1987. The airport, which was built in accordance with the conditions of the period, started to show itself due to the lack of terminal and apron capacity due to the establishment of private airlines and their flights in the following years. Within the scope of meeting this need, as a result of the tender held by DHMI General Directorate, the Domestic Terminal built by TAV Consortium with the Build-Operate-State model was opened on 23.03.2014. As a result of the tender realized by DHMI General Directorate, the International Terminal built by TAV Consortium with the Build-Operate-Transfer model was put into service on 09.09.2006

İç Hatlar Terminal binasına ait otoparkın kullanım alanı 83.130 m2 olup, 2523 araç kapasitesine sahiptir. VIP terminalinin otopark kullanım alanı 3.300 m2 ve CIP araç otopark alanı 8700 m2 olup, VIP 126 araç, CIP/Genel Havacılık Terminali 347 araç kapasitelidir. Bunlara ilave olarak ayrıca, 30 araç kapasiteli otobüs açık park alanı mevcuttur.
